Illness plaguing Wigan camp ahead of Wakefield trip

Wigan Warriors coach Shaun Wane has revealed that the club is suffering from an illness bug ahead of Sunday’s trip to Wakefield – and has hinted at another debut this weekend.

The Warriors face the in-form Wildcats looking to keep up the pressure on league leaders Warrington, following the loss to the Wolves at the DW Stadium last Friday.

And Wane revealed the extent of the club’s illness bug meant he’s been sending players home in the last 48 hours – and with captain Sean O’Loughlin ruled out too, Wane will hand someone else a debut on Sunday.

“We’re looking forward to it, we’ll be giving another debut I think. Lockers will be out, Liam Farrell is banned,” he said, via the club’s Twitter account.

“I’ve had to send the players home yesterday and today because of a virus that has gone through the club.”
