‘I’m capable of playing Super League’ says Liam Tindall after London Broncos move

FORMER Leeds and Hull winger Liam Tindall wants to make London Broncos a calling point on a journey back to Super League.

And the 23-year-old hopes that in the process, he can help the capital club continue to confound those who say they will struggle without the backing of David Hughes.

The oil magnate withdrew his financial support at the end of last season in the wake of the Broncos’ loss of Super League status under the new IMG grading system.

While the club are optimistic over new investment, coach and director Mike Eccles continues to put together a squad he is confident can be competitive in the Championship.

Tindall, released from his Hull contract in November, was added late last month on a one-year deal, and made a two-try debut in the morale-boosting 14-12 home win over Featherstone in the second round of the league campaign.

And he is keen to push on and banish memories of a frustrating and injury-hit 2024 season during which he played three times for Hull and four on loan to Bradford.

He featured in 23 games for Leeds before in October 2023 switching to Hull on two-year terms after rejecting a Rhinos contract extension.

“I didn’t get many games at Hull, and with being loaned out, I was back and forth there,” he explained.

“It was a bit late in the day when I left, and a lot of Super League clubs had already sorted their squads out by then.

“I trained on my own, and got in some really good work to make sure I was in good shape.

“When the offer from the Broncos came in and I spoke to Mike (Eccles), I just felt myself and the club were the right fit for each other at this stage.

“I want to get back to Super League, and I know I am capable of playing at that level.

“But I just feel I need some regular game time of a good standard, and to stay in the same place for an extended period and be at a club where I can have a real crack at establishing myself and not be a back-up player.

“I feel both myself and the Broncos have points to prove after last year, and I think we can compete in the Championship.

“There’s an amazing unity and spirit here, and I think that with Mike working to bring in more players, we can build on beating Featherstone.”

Eccles added: “Liam had a difficult year last time and will benefit from a change of location.

“Like this club, he has the ambition to return to Super League, and the conversation was ‘we will get you back to where you need to be’.

“He was outstanding on debut and delivered what we knew he would.”
