International: Russian and Czech champions crowned

The international scene has seen two new domestic champions crowned this week, as Czech Republic and Russia have hosted their respective Grand Finals to great success.

Lokomotiva Beroun defeated Czech Rabbitohs 16-12 to claim a Championship/Grand Final double for the third consecutive season in Czech Republic’s domestic competition. The Rabbitohs, who defeated Beroun on their way to securing both the 2014 CZRLA 9s and the inaugural CZRLA Cup, went into the Grand Final full of confidence and the match proved to be one of the most gripping seen on Czech soil.

Meanwhile in Russia, a 32-10 win over defending champions Vereya at the new CSKA stadium has seen Moscow side Lokomotiv crowned champions in front of over 1,000 fans in the Russian Rugby League Grand Final.

It was the fifth meeting of the sides this season, with the honours even but Lokomotiv were too strong in a match organised by RTC (Russian transport complex) who took over the financing, organization and promotion to make it compliant with the RF Ministry of Sport regulations.
