I’ve lost weight ahead of 2015, says Kevin Locke

Salford Red Devils full-back Kevin Locke has revealed he has lost weight ahead of the upcoming season, and says it is the first time in a long while that he has felt so good coming into a new league campaign.

Locke has been predominantly involved with New Zealand for the last few international campaigns, but was not selected for their Four Nations campaign this year, meaning he has been able to enjoy a full off-season without any international games.

And the Kiwi said that whilst it has been the toughest pre-season of his career under Iestyn Harris, he feels fully refreshed and in great condition ahead of Super League 2015.

‘‘I am really settled, I have lost weight and pre-season is going well,” Locke told the Manchester Evening News.

‘‘This is about the first time for four years I have gone into a pre-season without a niggling injury and having been involved in an international series.

‘‘From day one of pre-season training, expectations have been high and this is the hardest pre-season I have undertaken during my career. The fitness, the speed and the conditioning is all coming into place and there is a great spirit among the boys.”
