Kieran Buchanan signs two-year deal with York Knights

KIERAN BUCHANAN has signed a new two-year deal with York Knights.

Buchanan arrived at the LNER Community Stadium ahead of the 2025 Championship season on a two-year deal, after four seasons at Championship rivals Batley Bulldogs.

He has more than 100 career appearances to his name, having came through the ranks at Hull FC to play 13 senior games there before moving to Batley on a permanent basis.

The 26-year-old played 32 games for the Knights this year, helping the club clinch the 1895 Cup and Championship League Leaders’ Shield.

York head coach Mark Applegarth said: “I’m delighted he’s signed.

“He’s a real unsung hero of the team. He does a lot of the tough stuff and unselfish acts that all his teammates appreciate and probably don’t get as many headlines as some of more of the overt stuff that we’ve been seeing.

“He’s an absolute champion bloke and character in the dressing room and more importantly a really good player. I’m delighted he’s agreed to stay.”

Buchanan added: “I’m buzzing to be re-signing with the York Knights.

“My first year here has honestly been perfect. I’ve loved every minute with the lads, the staff, and the fans. I couldn’t have asked for a better club to be part of.

“I’m excited for what’s ahead and ready to give it everything again next season.”
