Kirmond not giving up on 2015 just yet

Wakefield Trinity Wildcats captain Danny Kirmond has said he’s doing everything he can to get back out on the field for the club this season.

Kirmond has undergone shoulder surgery for an injury picked up against Salford last month, and initially feared his season would be over.

But he’s told the Yorkshire Evening Post that given his record with healing quicker than expected, he is still dreaming of playing again in 2015.

“I have spoken to Brian [Smith] about it and he says there’s no rush and he wouldn’t risk me if it was a risk,” he said.

“But I do normally heal quite well, so I am going to push as hard as I can. I want to play rugby, at the end of the day. It is one of those things, it is an injury you can’t push too soon or you’ll end up setting yourself back a couple of extra weeks.

“I’ll have to be careful, but if I am feeling right and I think I can get back a bit earlier than normal, then I’m sure I will do that.”
