Salford Red Devils owner Dr Marwan Koukash has slammed the Rugby Football League (RFL) after the governing body handed him a £1,000 fine for misconduct.
Koukash has been a thorn in the RFL’s side since taking over at Salford, campaigning for a relaxation of the salary cap and aiming to give Super League clubs total control over the structure of their competition.
The Palestinian was fined for using foul and abusive language during his club’s pre-season media launch and for comments he made on social networking site, Twitter, which he ironically used to respond to the fine.
“Can anyone tell me what was wrong with my comments,” he asked on the micro-blogging site.
“I did not receive a single complaint from the 300 people who were there for speaking my mind. Why bring it up now.”
