Historical debts and loans owed by Salford to former owner Marwan Koukash have been written off, he claims.
The maverick horse racing guru, who stepped aside from his role last year, was owed a considerable amount of money.
Salford’s debts were understood to be around £5m, although not all of that was owed to Koukash.
However, his gesture will inevitably ease the strain on the club, who benefitted from their former owner last year as he helped fund several key signings, including Jackson Hastings.
The club has yet to comment.
I have written off any debts and loans owed to me by the @SalfordDevils . This means that any debts of the club relate to a period when others were in control.
I hope the new board will use this opportunity to attract fresh investment into the club— Marwan Koukash (@drmarwanK) November 26, 2018
