
New Rochdale signing Jono Smith shall be unavailable for almost two months of the season after being handed an eight-match ban for abusing match officials in games he didn’t play in.
Smith has been charged on grounds of misconduct for two separate incidents, with the first offence taking place whilst serving a suspension for a similar offence.
A three-match suspension was imposed for abusing a match official on Sunday July 26th whilst serving a one-match ban for a similar incident.
Meanwhile, a five-match ban been handed down for an incident that took place on Friday August 7th after Smith was found guilty of verbal abuse towards a match official based on sexual preference.
Smith has been a popular figure at North Wales for his uncompromising style of play and featured in Crusaders’ iPro Cup Final win over Swinton this season.
