Leigh Leopards could face major injury blow as short turnaround presents challenge against Wigan Warriors

LEIGH LEOPARDS have “hardly trained” in the build up to their Super League fixture against Wigan Warriors tomorrow night.

The Leopards head to the Brick Community Stadium for the second time in 2025 already, but they do so on the back of a heartbreaking 21-14 loss to Warrington Wolves in the Challenge Cup semi-final over the weekend.

That fixture was played out on Sunday, making it just a five day turnaround for the Leopards’ clash against Wigan tomorrow night.

But Leigh head coach Adrian Lam insists it is all about attitude this week.

“It’s a short turnaround from the Challenge Cup game from Sunday and a big one for the local community as well,” Lam said.

“It’s something we are really excited about. We have hardly trained this week but it’s about an attitude and making sure we go there and put a performance in like Round One.

“The atmosphere was flat in the first few days as it was an emotional rollercoaster we are on.

“We were disappointed we didn’t give our best performance there but we have to get over that quickly.”

Lam also spoke about the derby between Leigh and Wigan – and how the Leopards’ improvement has raised the standard of the rivalry.

“It’s certainly a derby that has improved since our promotion.

“There have been big crowds every time we’ve been to Wigan which shows Leigh are a club to take seriously.

“The derby certainly has built up exposure and profile in the past few years.”

That being said, Lam will be without two of his key players, whilst livewire David Armstrong is a doubt.

“There is still no Frankie Halton or Aaron Pene.

“There is a 50/50 doubt on David Armstrong, he has got fluid in his knee at the moment.”
