Halifax have announced that ahead of this weekend’s Super 8s clash against Salford on Saturday, both teams will be led out by Lizzie Jones.
Fresh from her Challenge Cup final appearance where she sang ‘Abide with Me’ in front of over 80,000 spectators at Wembley, she will walk out with the teams at The MBI Shay.
Lizzie’s husband Danny, who tragically passed away whilst playing for Keighley against London Skolars in May, is a former Halifax player who represented his hometown club over 50 times.
The club are hosting the ‘Danny Jones Celebration Match’ on Sunday 11th October.
Tickets are on sale for the match which will consist of two teams, a Halifax select side and a Rest of the World team. Tickets are priced at £10 for adults and concessions and £5 for juniors. All money from ticket sales will go to the Danny Jones Memorial Just Giving page and the Rugby League Cares Danny Jones fund.
