London Broncos sign Jamaica international and announce squad numbers

LONDON BRONCOS have signed Jamaica centre Chris Ball and brought in Warrington threequarters Jake Thewlis and Zac Bardsley-Rowe on initial two-week loans.

But doubts have emerged over the immediate availability of French back Chris Hellec, with Saint-Gaudens saying he remains under contract to them.

Ball, 24, has played for both Sheffield and London Skolars, and represented Jamaica alongside fellow Broncos recruit, winger Aaron Small, in last year’s 22-16 defeat by Wales at Neath.

Having turned out for the Broncos’ Reserves in 2024, Ball featured in the 17-10 Challenge Cup second-round defeat by Goole at Rosslyn Park as a triallist.

Thewlis, 19, crossed twice in Warrington’s 44-4 Challenge Cup third-round win at Whitehaven, his second Wolves appearance.

Bardsley-Rowe, 20, has yet to figure for Warrington, but played for Widnes on dual-registration last season.

Both have also had stints with North Wales Crusaders.

Hellec, 30, has been handed Broncos squad number two, but Saint-Gaudens say he remains “licensed” to them for the remainder of the Super XIII campaign.

“To date, there has been no contact between the two clubs, knowing we are still in the running for qualification for the final stages of the French Championship,” said Saint-Gaudens president Jean-Claude Estrampes.

Broncos squad numbers: 1 Alex Walker, 2 Chris Hellec, 6 Luke Polselli, 7 Connor O’Beirne, 8 Huw Worthington, 9 Curtis Davies, 10 Lewis Bienek, 11 Will Lovell, 12 Sadiq Adebiyi, 13 Marcus Stock, 16 Kian McDermott, 17 Jensen Monk, 18 Ben Hursey-Hord, 19 Lukas Mason, 20 Aaron Small, 21 Chris Ball, 22 Matt Ross, 23 Sam Winney, 24 Jake Thewlis, 25 Zac Bardsley-Rowe.
