Maroon Resigns from Lebanon Head Coach Role

The Lebanese Rugby League Federation has issued the following statement:

“Darren Maroon has resigned from his role as head of performance and head coach of the Lebanon national team, citing personal reasons. The resignation, effective immediately, has been accepted by the LRLF Board of Directors.

The LRLF would like to thank Darren for his contribution to Lebanese rugby league over the past 18 months and, in particular, leading the successful qualifying campaign for the 2017 Rugby League World Cup. The federation will now discuss the process to appoint a new head.

In the meantime, assistant coach Tarik Houchar has been appointed interim head coach and will lead the Cedars in the forthcoming Test against the Cook Islands. The LRLF looks forward to working with Tarik and the rest of Lebanon’s technical staff in reviewing the LRLF’s performance and coaching structure leading into the World Cup.”
