Salford Red Devils coach Richard Marshall has revealed he’d like to add one more signing to his squad before the start of the season.
Marshall has already made his first signings since his appointment, having secured the services of forward duo Darcy Lussick and Elijah Taylor.
That has satisfied his quench to bolster his size up front, but Marshall has told League Express a hooker is the final area for his club to target.
“You can always improve, but you’ve got to find the right player and importantly, at the right price,” said Marshall.
“Hooker is an area we could strengthen, but once we got Elijah in we were up to 29, so we’re not far off. I’m really happy with the blend of experience and youth we have. If something came up in that area, though, we’d certainly look at it.”
Marshall revealed that he identified Taylor as a key signing shortly after his arrival at the club, and he is delighted to have secured the New Zealand international.
“We have some young forwards and he complements them.
“He plays the game the way I like it, he promotes the ball, he is the link between the forwards and the backs. I like the style of the old-school loose forward, and that’s what he brings. At times we may need to use bigger personnel but he’s a fair size himself anyway. And I rate his work ethic highly. We identified him early and I’m sure he’ll be a good signing for us.”
