Brian McDermott continued to defend his players after Leeds’ season hit a new low following their 52-12 drubbing at the hands of Castleford.
The defending champions remain bottom of Super League after a derisory display against the brilliant Tigers, with Leeds suffering their fourth consecutive defeat.
But despite admitting his side were poor, McDermott refused to be overly critical.
“It was a terrible scoreline, defensively we were terrible,” said McDermott.
“We’ve got a list of things that we need to get on top of and in recent weeks the number one is soft missed tackles,” McDermott said. “Castleford got out of their end far too easily with soft misses and soft positional errors which gave them a break.
“That is a concern. We’re not clicking offensively as we’d like, but that’s not a massive concern.
“I’ll back the players to come up with something. I’m not going to be critical of them. I don’t think anybody is not trying.”
Extensive reaction to Leeds’ defeat will be in the upcoming League Express.
