An Alex Mellor hat-trick moved Huddersfield to within two points of the play-offs thanks to a 20-18 win over Castleford.
The forward’s treble saw the Giants finally win a clash that saw the lead switch hands on several occasions.
For Castleford it was another frustrating evening, with the defeat compounded by an injury to Grant Millington.
A Greg Eden intercept saw Castleford lead inside the opening two minutes before Mellor got his first.
Cas went into the break 8-6 ahead thanks to a Peter Mata’utia penalty, although Mellor’s second try 60 seconds after half-time put Huddersfield ahead.
Matt Cook replied soon after to restore the Tigers’ lead, but Mellor’s treble after a break down the right secure Huddersfield the points.
