Morgan Knowles explains St Helens exit and why he is leaving to join Dolphins

MORGAN KNOWLES has revealed that the opportunity to experience something different was the catalyst behind his move to the Dolphins.

Knowles has become part of the furniture at St helens, registering 38 tries in 246 appearances since debuting for his boyhood club back in 2015.

The 28-year-old has won four Super League titles, one Challenge Cup and one World Club Challenge, and has just enjoyed a testimonial year.

“It was a really tough decision to leave, I’ve got nothing bad to say about the club or anything,” said Knowles.

“I’ve grown up in St Helens and it’s all I’ve known during my life so this is a new experience.

“It’s a special place, special club and to leave did take a lot of thought but I’m comfortable with the decision I’ve made and I can’t wait for the next challenge.”

The chance to link up with former Saints boss Kristian Woolf is also one that the England international loose-forward is excited about.

Woolf won the Super League title in each of his three seasons at the Totally Wicked Stadium, between 2020 and 2022.

He took over the Dolphins ahead of this year and led them to a ninth-placed finish, their highest in three seasons as an NRL club, missing out on the play-offs by only two points.

“I’m looking forward to working with Woolfy. Me and Woolfy kept in contact when he left,” said Knowles.

“We had a really good relationship at Saints when he was here so I’m excited to work with him again in the NRL.”
