Netherton: Robins need points fast

Hull KR prop Jason Netherton believes the Robins need to start winning soon if they are to have any chance of making the play-offs.

The East Hull side currently sit three points adrift of eighth-placed Widnes, having won just seven of their 18 Super League matches in 2014.

“We cannot afford to keep slipping away from the top eight,” The 31-year-old told the Hull Daily Mail.

“We’ve dropped points in the last few weeks. Now it’s crucial we start winning and not chasing our tails.

“We don’t want to get to the last few weeks panicking about getting into the play-offs. We want to be in them and preparing as well as we can for them.

“I’ve been injured a bit with a hernia so I’ve not put much thought into next year yet. It might be sorted out at the end of the year. For now, it’s about managing the hernia, getting fit and getting in the team.

“I’ll see how the next couple of games go and we’ll take it from there.

“It’s not ideal playing with a hernia but we haven’t got many players. It’s sore after games and training but there are people worse off than me.”
