New chairman ‘up for the challenge’ with relegated Swinton Lions

SWINTON LIONS chairman Andrew Unwin says he is “up for the challenge” of guiding the club through their post-relegation phase.

Unwin has a long association with the club as a supporter, major sponsor and director.

His company Camway Installations Ltd have appeared on the club kit.

Now he is aiming to help Swinton bounce back from dropping into the third tier.

“From standing on the terraces at Station Road (Swinton’s old ground) as a twelve-year-old with my mates, I never imagined I’d be taking on the role of chairman,” he said.

“Not only is it a massive honour, it’s also quite humbling, but I’m up for the challenge to help the club through the next chapter.

“I’m also very mindful of the rich heritage and history of Swinton Lions.

“We have a fantastic and enthusiastic board, supported by staff and volunteers who are working collectively to push the club forward.

“I believe great strides have been made since our relegation, particularly with the arrival of new coaching and backroom staff, new players, a new club logo and exciting new playing kit. And there’s plenty more to come.”
