Nobody thinks we can beat Leeds, says Wane

Wigan Warriors coach Shaun Wane has emphatically insisted that nobody thinks his side can win at league leaders Leeds on Friday night.

The Warriors head to Headingley on Friday in a battle between the top two teams in the league, with Wigan going joint-top if they can beat the in-form Rhinos.

And despite the teams being so closely matched at the top of the table, Wane says Wigan have plenty of motivation in that nobody thinks the Warriors can win.

“Nobody, absolutely nobody thinks we can win, and that’s the big motivation for us,” he said.

“All the talk is about how unbeatable Leeds are and things like that, but we’ve won two and they’ve won one this year. That’s what we’ve been talking about this week.”

Wane however, admits that Leeds are playing fantastically well at the moment.

“They’re very consistent; they’re playing a fantastic brand of rugby. I want my team to go there and compete, give them a game – and if we do that, I’ll happy.

“They were unstoppable against Warrington, but if we go there and are competitive then we’ll give ourselves a chance.”
