Salford Red Devils boss Paul Rowley addresses Paul King’s return after Chris Irwin exit

PAUL ROWLEY has revealed that returning chief executive Paul King hasn’t spoken to the players following his return to Salford Red Devils.

King, who left the club following a takeover of a consortium led by Swiss businessman Dario Berta, has paid Salford’s player wages for the past three months.

Now he has returned to the club in an ‘advisory role’ after previous chief executive Chris Irwin – the man who replaced King in the first place – ‘resigned’ from his post last week.

With that in mind, Rowley has explained that with the players having time off, there was no immediate reaction and that the Salford boss wants to concentrate on rugby.

“We were off so I’m sure the players were off doing their own thing. In the immediate aftermath of that change, there was no reaction really because we were off,” Rowley said.

“This week has been a great week of training so the atmosphere has been great.

“Paul hasn’t spoken to the players, I want to concentrate on the rugby.”
