Castleford Tigers head coach Daryl Powell has insisted that Widnes’ infamous artificial pitch had no bearing on their performance – and the result – of their defeat to the Vikings last Sunday.
The Tigers slumped to a 46-16 defeat at Widnes at the weekend, but Powell was quick to play down any suggestions that the iPitch had an influence on the result, despite Widnes’ impressive home form so far in 2015.
“I don’t think the pitch had anything to do with the performance,” said Powell.
“We’ve been there twice while I’ve been at the club and won there both times.
“It’s not been a major issue. If it is for some players then they’ve got a grip of that.
“It’s not something that should play a part.”
