Castleford Tigers head coach Daryl Powell admits he is pleased with their form heading into back-to-back games with last year’s double winners Wigan, and believes his side are more than capable of coming out on top in Saturday’s huge Tetley’s Challenge Cup tie.
Even though Cas have lost games against Huddersfield and Leeds since the draw was made, three straight wins since then have kept Cas in third place on the Super League ladder, and Powell believes although it will be a tough afternoon against Shaun Wane’s men, the Tigers have to be confident they can succeed.
“It’s important that we’re going into the game in good form. Obviously the draw was made a fair while ago and form can vary leading into games like this, but ours has maintained,” Powell said.
“Even when we lost to Huddersfield and Leeds we were good for large parts of those games so our form’s good. We’re confident, we know what we’re about, we know what we do well and we’ve got a tough group as well.
“We’ve got all the ingredients to go and win the game, but we recognise it’s going to be a tough battle.”
