Powell raves about McMeeken form

Castleford Tigers coach, Daryl Powell has singled out in-form forward, Mike McMeeken for praise, labelling his performances at the moment as “top quality”.

McMeeken, who has impressed since joining from London Broncos in the off-season, has become a key part of the Tigers’ pack as they push for a top four spot.  Powell admits that he’s delighted with the progress of the youngster, saying he has caught his eye in recent weeks.

“Mike McMeeken is turning into some kind of player,” he said.

“At Hull he played in the back row and when Jake Webster had to come off he went into the centres and was just as big a threat there.  The way he’s going about his business at the moment he’s top quality.

“He’s a good defender; he’s got a good skills set, he’s a big man, he’s going really well.  I have been really pleased with Mike.”
