Powell won’t know Castleford team until Saturday

Castleford Tigers coach Daryl Powell has revealed that he may know the identity of the 17 men to take the field against Hull FC on Saturday until the day of the game.

Powell named a 19-man squad for the Ladbrokes Challenge Cup tie on Thursday, but says that with the club sweating over the fitness of several players ahead of the showdown at the KC Stadium, he simply can’t name a team just yet.

“We are a bit interesting at the moment with injuries,” Powell said.

“We haven’t made much of it, we’ve just got on with it, but we are struggling a little bit. I can’t name a team as there’s a couple of guys with X-rays and scans.

“Even having named a 19 I might have to change that along the way, with people pulling out.

“Potentially I don’t think I’m going to know (the line-up) until the day.”

Last year’s runners-up face Lee Radford’s men bidding for a place in the last eight of this year’s competition.
