Batley Bulldogs are the form team of the Championship following another impressive victory over Halifax. Coach John Kear said: “They’re playing really well. I think they are reaping the rewards of a good pre-season. We’re in a good place at the minute.
“Halifax are a really good team and we needed to be at our best. It was a high standard game of Rugby League and we were obviously delighted to come out on the right side of the ledger.
“I’ve watched Workington play Halifax, Sheffield and London and there’s visible signs of improvement. There’s no way we will underestimate them especially from the London game when Jarrod Sammut played. He obviously inspired an element of confidence within the team.”
Second row Joe Chandler suffered a concussion and is doubtful as is centre Chris Ulugia with an ankle injury
Workington Town coach Phil Veivers was frustrated after his side’s loss to London Broncos: “I thought we played pretty well as a team and created a lot of opportunities and just didn’t put them to bed,” he said. “When I look at it in the cold light of day, it’s attention to detail that cost us in the end.
“Batley have beaten all the front runners and are having a good run at the moment. It’s a tough ask going to their ground.”
