In his latest column in League Express, editor Martyn Sadler previews tonight’s top of the table showdown between Warrington and Widnes.
When Warrington host Widnes at the Halliwell Jones Stadium this Friday afternoon it will undoubtedly be the match of the season so far.
Who would have imagined before the season began that these two neighbours would have been sitting together at the top of the table with twelve points each?
Not many people, and my colleague Garry Schofield has made it clear that he has been forced to change his mind about the Vikings and their prospects this season, after originally tipping them to finish at the bottom of the league.
And of course Sky Sports didn’t spot the Vikings’ rich promise either, given that the Cheshire derby will not feature on TV, although with the Hull derby and the Saints-Wigan derby featuring on the same day, we’ll hardly be short of great action.
But it’s great to see a club breaking into the higher echelons of the competition, and I sincerely hope that the Vikings can continue to sustain their challenge.
If they do, it will make for a thrilling season.
