Saints and Leeds to clash in Cup semi-finals

Holders Leeds Rhinos will continue their defence of the Ladbrokes Challenge Cup with a semi-final showdown against St Helens.

The other semi-final sees Warrington Wolves face Hull Kingston Rovers for the right to feature in the historic 2015 final at Wembley Stadium on Saturday August 29, a date which also marks the sport’s 120th birthday.

The Ladbrokes Challenge Cup will break new ground this year with a live Friday night semi-final on BBC TV on Friday July 31 with the second televised semi-final taking place on Saturday August 1.

Leeds, who reached the last four of Rugby League’s oldest and most prestigious with a 24-6 victory over Hull FC on Friday, were paired with the First Utility Super League champions when the semi-final draw was conducted live on BBC Two this afternoon.

Saints will face Leeds in confident mood of reaching the final for the first time since 2008 following their 36-20 defeat of Widnes Vikings.

Warrington, Wembley winners in 2009, 2010 and 2012, booked their semi-final place with a 34-24 win against Leigh Centurions on Saturday whilst Hull KR, who last won the Challenge Cup in 1980, reached the last four by defeating Catalans Dragons 32-26.

The draw was conducted by two-time Man of Steel Paul Sculthorpe MBE and TV presenter and former professional footballer Chris Kamara.
