Sezer field-goal wins it for Canberra

Aidan Sezer kicked a last-minute field goal to steal a 21-20 win for Canberra Raiders over Manly Sea Eagles.

After Jarrod Croker opened the scoring for the Raiders with his boot, Manly scored the first try. Daly Cherry-Evans stepped through Canberra’s defensive line.

The Sea Eagles were piling on the pressure. With a Trent Hodkinson penalty and a Joel Thompson try, set up by Tom Trbojevic, their lead was twelve.

But Canberra were looking dangerous and scored their first try soon after. Jack Wighton passing to Nick Cotric who finished well.

Cotric got his second when the ball was shifted left five minutes later.

Both teams kicked penalties on both sides of half-time which led to Manly leading 16-14.

Brian Kelly then opened up a six-point gap for Manly with a try.

But Canberra weren’t finished. After Hodkinson missed a field-goal attempt, Cotric broke down the wing and kicked inside for Wighton who caught and scored. Croker’s conversion levelled the scores with two minutes to play before Sezer had the final say.
