Huddersfield hooker Shaun Lunt thinks the Giants could be Leeds Rhinos’ bogey team, but is not taking anything for granted ahead of Thursday night’s mouthwatering Super League clash.
The Giants have dominated recent head-to-head clashes between the West Yorkshire rivals, winning four of their last five league match-ups and drawing their most recent game in March.
Lunt, who spent several months on loan at Headingley in 2012, said: “I don’t know what the secret is.
“We could be their bogey team, in the same way Warrington always seem to beat us. Sometimes when you play teams you just seem the have the edge over them. I don’t know what it is, but obviously they will be out to put a stop to that and we will be wanting to continue our winning streak over them.”
The Rhinos have had something of a mid-season slump following a blistering start to the 2014 campaign, culminating in a close shave with Championship outfit Leigh Centurions on Friday night. Lunt can’t see it lasting, and dismissed the idea that it’s the perfect time to take the Rhinos on.
“It’s never a good time to play Leeds, they’re a quality side,” he said.
