SHEFFIELD EAGLES have signed Papua New Guinean international winger Garry Lo, who had a brief spell at Newcastle earlier this year.
Lo has agreed a three-year contract with the club and becomes the eighth player to arrive during the close season to join the Eagles’ move to a full-time squad.
Lo will link up with compatriots Mark Mexico and Menzie Yere to add to the Eagles’ PNG contingent. He played alongside Mexico at Thunder, before leaving suddenly in January without having played a game. Since then he has been back in Papua New Guinea playing in a local competition, having previously made a name for himself starring for PNG Hunters in the Queensland Cup.
Eagles coach Mark Aston has been monitoring him for a number of years and he believes he can have a big impact in the Championship next season.
Aston said: “Garry is someone we have known about for some time. “He is explosive, he is powerful and he can score tries. He is a winger who is still very young, and like a lot of our signings he still has great potential to improve.”
