Sheffield Eagles have taken Canadian international halfback Rhys Jacks on trial.
The Australian-born playmaker has recently had a similar spell with Championship rivals Bradford, but was not offered a contract. He now has a chance to impress Eagles coach Mark Aston over the coming weeks, though he was not named in the 19-man squad for Sunday’s trip to Workington. The move sees Jacks link up again with Sheffield prop Steve Thorpe, who he played alongside at Easts Tigers and in the junior Melbourne Storm ranks.
Aston said: “We’ll have a good look at him over the next few weeks and see how he goes.”
