Former Leeds Rhinos captain has, 24 hours after Rhinos star Zak Hardaker was nominated for the 2015 Golden Boot, reflected on his historic success three years ago on national radio station talkSPORT.
Speaking with presenter Colin Murray, Sinfield admitted the Golden Boot win of 2012 was “very special”, but was quick to pay tribute to the squad who helped him achieve the individual success in 2012 – a victory that caused a real stir in Australia.
“It was very special, the Golden Boot,” he told Murray.
“I don’t think it went down too well in Australia – they weren’t too happy about it! It’s something that was fantastic to win, but I have to go back to the team again, because I play a team sport.
“Without those players in and around the group there’s not a chance that would have happened when it did.”
Sinfield also spoke about Leeds’ 2015 treble with Murray too, saying: “We never had an opportunity to do it before so to do it was unbelievable – it’ll stick with the group for a long, long time.
“When we get together in 10, 20, 30 years time, there’ll still be a twinkle there with us all regarding what we did.”
