Batley have secured a deal to keep Sam Smeaton at the club beyond the end of the season.
The experienced centre had joined the club from Halifax for the remainder of the season, having struggled to establish himself at The Shay.
Smeaton, who has also spent time on loan at York City Knights this season, has signed a two-year deal with the club. He had previously played for Sheffield before joining Halifax for the 2016 season while he enjoyed a long spell at Batley’s Qualifiers rivals Featherstone before that.
