Warrington Wolves coach Tony Smith has admitted that his star backrower Ben Currie is attracting interest from the NRL.
Currie made his 100th appearance for the Wolves in last week’s victory over Wigan, despite being just 21 years old.
His displays haven’t gone unnoticed overseas, with a number of NRL clubs keeping tabs on the star, who was picked in England’s Test series squad at the end of 2015.
However, Smith insists Currie will be staying at Warrington for now, with his contract not set to expire until the end of the 2019 season.
“I think he’s been on their radar for a number of years,” Smith admitted.
“But at this stage I don’t think Ben wants to go. If he lets his contract run out with us at any stage and he gets tempted by Australia I’m sure he will find someone who is interested in him.
“But he’s happy with the way his development is going. If he decides to stay with us throughout his career he is certainly a future captain of the club and a club great of the future.”
