Talented youngster Westerman commits to Cas

Castleford Tigers have handed talented youngster Brandon Westerman a two-year extension to his existing contract with the club.

Westerman, who has been training full-time with Cas since the end of last season, was due to see his contract expire at the end of the current season – but that deal will now run until the end of 2017 after Castleford’s latest announcement.

“I’m chuffed to bits to have signed my new deal. I absolutely love it here, playing for my hometown club is a dream come true. We have a great bunch of guys here who make me feel really welcome.” said Westerman.

Pete Riding, Head of Youth at the Tigers, added that he was pleased with how Westerman has developed.

“I am delighted that Brandon has signed this new contract which is not only recognition and reward for his efforts over recent times but further evidence of the value the club puts into producing local players from our own system.

“Brandon demonstrates the type of character we want to build the club on, in relation to his desire, commitment and dedication to being the best he can be. The way Brandon has developed over the last couple of years mirrors the way in which the club has evolved and sends a clear message to other players in our system that there is a clear pathway for local players to progress from the local community game all the way to being a fulltime professional.”
