London Broncos shocked their opponents Sheffield Eagles today in the Summer Bash at Blackpool, reviving their top-four ambitions with a stunning 46-6 victory against the Eagles.
The Broncos began the game like a house on fire, running up a 24-0 scoreline after just 16 minutes with tries from Elliot Kear, Rhys Williams, Ben Hellewell and Kear again, with Wes Naiqama converting each try.
Broncos halfback Oscar Thomas was the star of the show, however, touching down three times for his side, with his first coming on 27 minutes after a great offload by Daniel Harrison, with Naiqama failing to convert for the first time.
The Eagles finally got into the game when Cory Aston touched down on 32 minutes, showing a great dummy and sidestep to get over the line, with Dominic Brambani converting for a half-time score of 28-6.
If anyone thought the Eagles would fight back in the second half, they were disabused of that belief when Thomas scored his second try on 47 minutes.
Quentin Laulu-Togagae scored for the Eagles ten minutes later, but the try was disallowed for obstruction, and two minutes later Thomas completed his hat-trick when he pouched a Brambani kick and ran 70 metres to touch down. Naiqama’s goal took the Broncos to 40, and their scoring was completed when Williams scored his second try, which Naiqama again goaled, for a victory that will instil tremendous confidence in the Broncos.
