Sheffield captain Steve Thorpe will leave the club at the end of the season, with Mark Aston confirming that plenty more will follow.
Thorpe, who was a standout star for the Eagles when they made the top four in 2015, is set to return to his native Australia following the conclusion of the Championship Shield play-offs.
He is one of several players set to leave the club at the end of the season, with League Express reporting in the last number of weeks that Keal Carlile and Michael Knowles will move to Featherstone, while Rob Worrincy is expected back at Halifax.
“There are people like Thorpe who has informed us that he is leaving to go back to Australia because his partner has already gone back for work reasons,” Mark Aston told the Sheffield Star.
“He has decided now that he is also going to leave at the end of the year. There are players like Keal Carlile and Michael Knowles. I believe they are going somewhere else as well. There are a few that are going, and if we don’t get things sorted out quickly then I am sure that there will be a few more.”
