Tickle sent to hospital following nightclub assault

Widnes Vikings have confirmed that forward Danny Tickle has required hospital treatment following an incident in the early hours of Sunday morning.

It is believed that an altercation involving Tickle took palace at Queen’s Nightclub in Ashton. A man has been arrested on suspicion of assault in connection to the incident.

However the club have said that the former Wigan star is in a stable condition and expected to make a full recovery.

Tickle signed for Widnes in 2014 and has made 45 appearances for the Super League side.

A Greater Manchester Police statement read: “At 4.05am on Sunday November 1, police received a report of a man being assaulted outside Queen’s nightclub, Wigan Road, Ashton-in-Makerfield. A 32-year-old was taken to hospital suffering from head injuries. Enquiries are ongoing.”
