An investigation into the outbreak of Covid-19 at Castleford Tigers will come to a conclusion this week.
League Express understands enquiries have been made to learn how the virus spread through the club and the RFL will make a decision as to whether the Tigers will face any repercussions based on the findings.
The investigation is similar to ones that took place at Hull FC and Catalans after they suffered outbreaks within their workforce.
Castleford’s season was cut short after a total of 17 players tested positive for the virus shortly after their fixture with Leeds Rhinos in October 26th, when they were defeated 28-24. Two days later, 13 players tested positive for the virus before a further four did in a subsequent round of testing.
That saw the Tigers’ end to the season decimated due to stand-downs.
Meanwhile, it was a busy week for the Tigers as they confirmed three signings.
Hull FC forward Lewis Bienek was confirmed by the club before Castleford made a double swoop for Huddersfield duo Suaia Matagi and Jordan Turner.
The Tigers’ recruitment for 2021 is now understood to be complete.
