Warrington Wolves coach Tony Smith believes the impending return of Sam Tomkins to Super League can only be a good thing for the game in England – even if it won’t be with Warrington.
Smith believes that the strength of the competition will improve with Tomkins returning to it, and says that a Super League with Sam Tomkins in it is going to make for great viewing.
He said: “It’s a real shot in the arm for Super League I think. I love watching him play, I think he’s a super player and it’s great he’s returned. He’s shown that the NRL isn’t all that – it doesn’t suit everyone.
“Whether it’s family issues why he’s coming back or not, I’m not sure. But any competition that has got Sam Tomkins playing in it is going to be a very good one, that’s for sure.”
