TOULOUSE OLYMPIQUE aren’t rushing into any panic recruitment to fill the vacant number-six role in their playing roster.
The decision by young Australian stand-off Ryan Rivett to return home before the start of the season left a big gap in coach Sylvain Houles’ squad.
Club captain Anthony Marion stepped into the void temporarily, switching from his more regular loose-forward role.
Director of sport Cedric Garcia said: “We’re managing the situation from within until the right opportunity arises.
“Signing the first available player just to fill a gap isn’t the best way forward. Our coach will only make the right move at the right time for the right recruit.”
Garcia also confirmed that the club is hoping for positive news on a suspected Achilles tendon injury for Dominique Peyroux.
“We are giving the medical experts as much time as necessary to make the correct diagnosis and treatment plan,” he explained.
The 36-year-old Cook Islands and Samoa second rower sustained the injury during the 18-14 opening Championship round defeat by Widnes at Stade Ernest Wallon.
Former Newcastle Knights player Rivett, 22, joined Toulouse ahead of last season and caught the eye with twelve tries.
