Vea set for London Broncos debut against Wakefield

London Broncos are poised to unleash another debutant on Super League this weekend, with new recruit Atelea Vea in line to make his debut against Wakefield on Saturday.

The former St George Illawarra Dragon was signed by the Broncos last month, but has had to wait until now to debut for the London club – as he only arrived in the country today (Thursday).

However, he has been named in Tony Rea’s 19-man squad for the crucial clash against Wakefield, and looks set to make his bow in English rugby league on Saturday.

“He’s been training back in Australia and is in really good shape,” said coach Tony Rea. “He’s good to go.”

Vea is set to line up alongside his former Dragons team-mate, half-back Josh Drinkwater, who made his debut against Bradford Bulls 11 days ago but was forced to pull out of last week’s game against Warrington Wolves after picking up hamstring injury in the warm-up.

“Josh has had a healthy week,” said Rea.

London 19-man squad to face Wakefield (The Hive, Saturday, 3pm): Atkins, Bishay, Caton-Brown, Cook, Cunningham, Drinkwater, Farrar, Forster, Foster, Greenwood, Griffin, Krasniqi, McMeeken, Minns, Moore, O’Callaghan, Slyney, Solomona, Vea.
