Widnes Vikings have confirmed that Dave Allen and Kieran Butterworth will leave the Cclub at the end of the season.
Allen rejoined the Vikings in 2010 after a spell in Cumbria and has played an important role in Denis Betts’ squad since his return but he will move on to pastures new once the Vikings’ play-offs assault is complete.
The Widnesian has played 18 times for the Vikings in 2014, scoring one try, with a career total of 132 appearances and 33 tries for the Club. Fringe player Butterworth hasn’t made a first team appearance.
Widnes boss Denis Betts said: “I’d like to wish Dave and Kieran all the best for the future. Dave has been a good servant to the Vikings during his two spells at the Club and he leaves here at the end of our campaign with our best wishes and luck for the future.
”Kieran hanse’t managed to make an appearance for the Club this year. It has been difficult for us to find him game time elsewhere due to the way the system is and he’s too old for Under 19s Rugby League.
“However, I know Kieran has enjoyed the full-time environment and being around the culture we have here, we believe hes benefitted from that.”
