Wakefield enter talks with new Belle Vue landlords

Wakefield Trinity Wildcats chairman Michael Carter has confirmed he will hold talks with the new owner of Belle Vue as the Super League side explore where they will be playing next year.

League Express revealed earlier this year how Carter was seeking alternative venues to a stadium he described as not fit for purpose.

It was revealed by Carter that he had been in discussions with Dewsbury over a potential move, but after the ground was taken over by new owners, Carter believes there could still be a future for the club at Belle Vue.

88m Group are the new owners of the stadium after they took ownership on from the Bank of Ireland; but Carter confirmed it is not as easy as it sounds – there are a couple of big issues which need to be resolved.

“We are exploring the avenue of staying at Belle Vue,” Carter said.

“There are a couple of quite big bridges we need to get over in terms of ground rental going forward.”
