Wane expecting Flower to come back strongly

Wigan coach Shaun Wane has said he wants prop Ben Flower to be “aggressive, fit and strong” on his return to the side tomorrow night – insisting if he isn’t, he’ll be out of the team the following week.

Flower has been named in Wigan’s squad for the first time since his record six-month ban came to end on Tuesday, and he is expected to come from the bench for the Warriors’ clash against Warrington.

But Wane has said that if he sees Flower holding anything back on Thursday night, then he’ll be dropped for their next match against Wakefield.

“I hope he’s going to be aggressive, fit and strong,” revealed Wane. “He’s dynamic and he runs the ball hard, and that’s the Ben Flower we need.

“If he holds anything back then he won’t play against Wakefield, I’ve already told him that. If I see any signs of him holding something back then he knows he’ll be going to Workington (on dual-registration).

“I’m hoping he’ll play as a front rower should and be aggressive. He’s one of the best props in the comp, and he’s just what we like.”
