Wane rages at Wigan performance before ending his press conference

Wigan Warriors coach Shaun Wane cut a frustrated figure following their 8-6 defeat to Widnes Vikings on Thursday night: before cutting short his own post-match press conference.

Wane was speaking after a disappointing performance from the Warriors in which, despite winning 20 penalties throughout the course of the night and seeing Widnes reduced to 11 men at one point, they could only muster one try courtesy of forward Liam Farrell.

And when asked for his assessment of his side’s performance, Wane pulled no punches.

He said: “We lacked composure and our game-management was off in the final third, which was disappointing. “I’m very angry.”

Then, in the closing stages of his press conference, the Wigan coach was asked whether he felt under pressure after the defeat.

He replied: “I don’t know what you mean. If we win tonight, we’re top of the league… we’ve got six players out. “There’s no other club where that question would be asked. I’ll see you.”

The Warriors coach then left the press conference.
