Wardle expecting to play for Scotland

Huddersfield Giants star Joe Wardle has revealed that he’s not even thinking about a potential England call-up in 2015 – and has said that he still expects to be playing for Scotland.

Wardle’s form has earned him rave reviews this year with many tipping him to be good enough to make the cut for the series against New Zealand – but the centre/back-rower says that whilst it’s nice to be mentioned for England, he’s trying to just focus on helping Huddersfield to their first Grand Final.

“Until I get a call from (England coach) Steve McNamara, that’s something I’m not even thinking about. At this stage, I’m still expecting to be playing for Scotland,” said Wardle.

“Obviously, it’s great that people have been saying I could be in contention to be picked for England. It’s a sign I must be doing something right.

“But, to be honest, that’s not really something I’m thinking about at the moment.

“I’m just wanting to play as well as I can to help the Giants achieve as much success as possible, because we know we are getting closer to achieving something special here.”
