EDINBURGH GIANTS claimed their first-ever top-flight victory by beating SHEFFIELD EAGLES 28-50.
Both sides were attempting to get off the mark after losing to the other six sides in their first seasons at Super League level.
Calum Davidson scored a hat-trick for Edinburgh and Lenny Izzard a brace alongside tries from Stuart Williams, David Hill and John Willans.
Willans also added seven goals, along with a couple by Stephen Halsey.
“Today is another historic day for our young club,” hailed Edinburgh head coach Martyn Gill.
It means Sheffield, who registered tries from Stephen Reilly (two), Chris Haynes, Sid Ramsey and James Birchnall plus two goals each for Joe Wink-Simmonds and Ben Simpson, finish bottom at the end of the regular season.
Who finishes top remains uncertain, however, with the clash between Halifax Panthers and Leeds Rhinos postponed and a new date yet to be confirmed.
It will be either Halifax or LONDON ROOSTERS, whose 26-30 success at HULL FC – who finish fifth – takes them three points clear of the Rhinos.
Lewis King, Casper Wass (two), Mason Billington and Jason Owen scored tries for the Roosters, four converted by Wass and one by Owen.
Hull threatened quite the upset with Josh Edwards’ second try and third conversion ensuring a nervy finish after earlier efforts from Nathan Sherwood, Mike Swainger and Liam Stancliffe.
Halifax are two points behind London.
The top four, also including Wigan Warriors, will progress to the play-offs, with these dates also yet to be confirmed.
