Matt Whitley says he has to prove himself all over again following his move to Catalans.
The backrower has joined Les Dracs from Widnes, following their relegation from Super League.
Whitley was considered one of the top performers in Widnes’ struggling side,and attracted interest from several Super League clubs as a result.
Despite that, the 22-year-old insists he’s at the bottom of the pecking order in Perpignan.
“I’ve got to start again now,” he said.
“I was relegated as part of that Widnes team and this is an opportunity to prove myself. That’s what I’m looking at right now.
“We had challenges at Widnes, it was tough. When you lose so many games on the bounce you start questioning yourself and your ability. Hopefully I ,can start this season strong and build some confidence by the time round one comes. I’m excited for the first game.
“We’re going to make it work and that’s something I’m looking forward to.”
